What Do I Need to Make Rosin at Home?

• Flower (Optimal 1 to 1.5 grams per press)
• Parchment Paper
• A Rosin Press
• Rosin Collecting Tool
• Pollen Press

Step 1. Prepare your parchment paper

Cut a strip of parchment paper 4 inches wide and 7- 8” long.  Fold this in half to create a square.  It’s okay if your paper overreaches the edges of the plates, as this will insure that the pressing surface stays clean. The oil will adhere to the parchment paper for collection. For best results we recommend incorporating a few specific folds to create a directionally folded pouch. A directional fold method will make collecting the rosin easier and maintain your terpene profile.

STEP 2. Plug and Play

Determine the best temperature for the weight, density, quality, and age of your material. You can vary the amount of material to press, just adjust the temperature and Axiom press plates for the correct pressure. Next preheat your rosin press by turning it on and selecting the temperature.

• 180° – 220°F for Flower
• 160° – 180°F for Powder, and Denser Materials
• 220° – 250°F for Dated or Lower-Quality Material

STEP 3. Pre-Puck

Pre-puck your material by using a pollen press. This is an important step to maximize yield by concentrating the material into a small puck. The lightly compacted puck and homogeneous shape will uniformly shape your flower to assist in evenly applying pressure and preventing small particulate from running with your oil. This allows you to press flower without the necessity of using a filter bag. Once formed, place this puck into your parchment paper.

STEP 4. Use Your My Rosin Press

For any new flower pressed for the first time, a good setting for initial pressing is to start at around 90 seconds at 220℉. After letting the upper plate apply weight to warm the flower for approximately 10-15 seconds before locking, gently close the plates. Beginning by slowly warming the material makes for more effective extraction and improved results.
With the plates locked, My Rosin Press applies the equivalent of 6 tons of weight to your material. This is all achieved while requiring minimal human effort to get it into the locked position. STEP 5. Cool the Rosin

Pull the parchment paper out and let the rosin cool completely before handling. Remove the “rosin chip” (or left-over flattened material) from the parchment paper and save it for other uses. To cool the rosin faster and more effectively preserve your terpene profile, we recommend removing something from the freezer and placing the parchment paper on it.

*ProTip – Putting the rosin directly in the freezer may cause condensation and affect the quality of your final product by incorporating unwanted moisture.

STEP 6. Collect the Rosin

Once the rosin has cooled, use a standard Rosin tool to collect the rosin from the parchment paper.  We recommend an arrowhead or paddle-shaped tool head. Use a quick, light stroke to allow the sticky rosin to gather itself on the end of the tool. Place the parchment on a Silicone mat sheet on your counter to help secure the paper in place while you collect the rosin.

*ProTip – Lightly roll your Rosin tool to collect the oil. Where possible, try to avoid scraping or digging roughly for the easiest collection.
